No good CEO would/could afford in this economic environment to not be critical of below average financial performance of any division.
Can you imagine how the press would slam him for saying anything else than this? Or the unions?
Regardless, Gm may be willing to invest in Saab for a period of time - but for how long?
Ultimately -- without profit and margins that match or exceed other divisions-- there could be no other decision than 1) new management/restructuring, 2) more cost cutting, and/or 3)sell/close.
