First of all, thank you to those of you that actually gave me advice. It is appreciated.

Secondly, we have been doing everything with Saab by "the rules." The timing chain (and yes, it's the timing chain according to invoices directly from Saab) was replace by Saab less than 9 months ago. Before that the turbo was "sucking oil" and was also replace after the first year. All service/maintance has been done with a Saab dealer.

On May 21 while traveling out of town (no where near a Saab dealer) the car died. We called roadside assistance and were told that since our car was 3,000 over warranty they couldn't help us. We had it towed to the nearest recommended auto service specializing in Saab repairs. We called Saab as soon as the car arrived at the garage to let them know what had happened. They asked us to then fax the auto service's diagnosis along with our maintenence records. Over a week passed, no work had been done to the car, Saab customer service contacted us and told us based on the information we provided them, including the diagnosis, they would be covering the "majority" of the repairs. We were then told to tow it to the nearest Saab dealer - over 50+ miles away at a cost of $200. We did so as they requested. Upon the car arriving at the dealership we were contacted by the Saab customer service rep telling us they now would not cover it since another auto service had looked at the car first. They were fully aware that another outside service had looked at the car and made a diagnosis.

Sorry, they may be nice cars to look at, but the customer service has been less than satisfactory from day one. Also, thanks for making a judgement on my character. I simply wanted to get the word out on the service experience I have been facing and possibly get some solid advice - possibly from other owners with similar experiences. I know of several other 2000 9-3 Saab owners that have had similar issues with their turbo and timing chain.

And as far as your recommendation that I drive a Toyota or a Kia instead -
Thanks for the advice - I drive a Lexus and love it.
