as in Zinc DisomethingPhosphate, is 1.2% versus 1.0% allowed by ILSAC GF3. ILSAC GF-4 proposals are for still lower phosphorous. Zinc Disomethingphosphate is the single most effective anti-wear additive known, and oil companies are resisting the call for lower phosphorous levels b/c they will have trouble meeting the wear requirements. Auto companies are seeking to lower the phosphorous levels b/c the alternative is to reduce oil consumption to maintain cat efficiency. Saab motors don't burn much oil - how many of us fill to the "A" in MAX on the dipstick and when they change, the level isn't even down to the "M" in MAX? We aren't going to have CAT problems.
In the Rotella Forum, the Shell Expert clearly states that Rotella T can be used in any engine for which ILSAC GFIII is not *required*, and that includes Saab.
