probably as there is a higher phosphorus content, and actually some moly in the Rotella. Hi phosphorus is bad for the catalytic converter, which is why Rotella is not recommeded for catalys gas cars, or so the Rotella expert says (on hteir forum site). Mobil however, is approved for catalyst cars, and carries an SLSJ rating. Dean has this in his newer 95SET. I'll try Delvac 1 as it is available here and Rotella syn is onlt available in a 0W40 rating, nto what I want for my high mileage '88 9Kt.
Another advantage is the high temperature viscosity ratings. If you were to scale it... Delvac 5W40 were 2X as viscous at 100C than Mobil1 10W30!
I put Rotella 15W40 Multigrade conventional oil in my transmission, and I must say it IS smoother, by a noticable amount. Must be the shear additives
