was the worst car I ever owned. Bought it used with 55K and a Volvo extended warranty.
Ate tires like it owned a tire store--no one could tell me why.
Water pump at 63K (3 tries at the dealer to get this done)
Head gasket blows at 78K.
AC totally dead at 80K. Needed springs, too.
Car drove great but was terrible in snow, even with 4 Blizzaks and 100-lbs of sand in back. You had to baby it in the snow, you couldn't just drive it like you can a Saab.
Cost way too much money to run and the dealer (a Volvo service award winner) was possessed of condescendending approach was matched only by its incompetence.
Still, I love the styling of the 940s and it was a fine road car.
I probably had a bad one. But I won't buy another.
A friend with a history in Volvos says the reason they last so long is because you have to start rebuilding the car piece by piece starting at 80K. Based on my experience, he may be right.
