Hey, your house isn't in Wallingford, CT by any chance is it(??!!) Our heat & hot water is on still (the house is vacant) our closing isn't until the end of Sept. and the house inspector turned the hot water on & we got hot water, but still, ya gotta wonder about the integrity of the system, its age, efficiency, etc. Dean who posted on here sent me some real informative info. about solar panels & I wanna check the library for books and articles. Our problem is, we need to replace the roof & the panels are an added expense to remove & replace. I wish I knew ahead of time if they're working properly & are worth removing & replacing, or removing & switching over to all electric hot water again. I think I'd really like to give them a shot. Our house is on a cul de sac & one other neighbor has the same panels. I believe the wife used to work for the company that services them. So, I'll have to pay the neighbor a visit.
Any luck? Were you able to find any kind of utilities bills info? Is the heat in the house by those solar panels, too, or just the hot water? For our house, it would just be the hot water. The power bills in the past ran $80-$250. I could imagine how much higher it would be with hot water, too. I'm a person whose ALWAYS cold, whereas my fiance (typical guy) is always warm/hot.
Congrats on the house. Did you close yet? I'm in the STRESSFUL waiting on the mortgage phase.
