I bought a nicely proportioned charcoal grey Samsung 36" HDTV tube TV last October, so, almost a year ago, and have been very happy with it. The picture is great, almost like a computer screen, especially when watching DVDs. It was like $1250 or so, about $800 less than the more silvery, flashy Sony. It is definitely bigger than I'd normally consider a TV should be but not as gigantic as those hideous projection ones. Anyway, I made a TV / Music stereo / Computer room for it b/c I was worried that a big TV would ovetake the books and furniture in my main living room. It's worked out well to have a media room separate from the living room. Anyway, I recommend Samsung even though I'm not sure if I would've ever thought of it unless the price differential and the styling had been so much better than the Sony.
