First, how long will you be there? How much $$$ do you have to play with? If you're a student living cheap, you can get all sorts of deals with a student ID, STA travel, or Council Travel. There are a lot of bucket shops for cheap airfare in London, too. It's a good hopping off point for the continent. Youth hostels are great for cheap beds and meeting people.
For london... What are you into doing? It's like NYC with a crappy train schedule. Tube shuts down around midnight. Live music in london is world class. Record shopping (my guilty pleasure) is HOT in London, arguably better than NYC. If you're into broadway shows, you'll get some good selection. Beer is vastly superior to the swill we drink in the USA (excluding our fine American microbrews). Get a curry after a few pints. Tate gallery is always nice for art. If you want to party and carry on, you'll find plenty of good times in the pubs. Hang with some rowdy aussies or kiwis and you'll have some great stories to tell.
Enjoy Brussels. It's a wonderful city in a country that brews the best beers in the world. Enjoy a Duvel and think of all of us poor working stiffs back home. If you find a nice "bird" over there in your travels, take her to Brugge. Well, see Brugge anyway. It's called the "venice of the north" and it's probably an hour train ride from Brussels.
Can you make it to Munich for Oktoberfest?
If you get a cheap flight to Scandinavia because you have some sort of SAAB fetish, go soon. I was in Copenhagen and Stockholm 3 years ago for my anniversary (Sept 11) and it was getting cold. I can only imagine what it's like by October or November!
Prague is a beautiful city. I wonder what it would be like in the fall. Food and drink is great there, and CHEAP. You can get good deals on apartments for a night or two, as well.
Enjoy your trip. I get to go to BFE China in 10 days, so I envy your trip!
