From my experience with flying turbo charged aircraft, if you accidently overboost the engine (on some it is possible to put almost 45psi into the engine), you can actually seperate the cylinder heads from the engine block. Of course a turbo on a plane is always working, which means constant high boost, but I think the theory is somewhat similar. If you regularily thrash your car, say up to 15-20psi every time, this causes alot of addition stress inside the cylinders, which "pushes up" on the heads. I would say retorqing would almost better solve the problem than replacing the gasket, however, it is possible that the gasket gets stressed in a similar manner and must be replaced too.
30000 miles sounds too short though... unless you drive with the needle in the red all the time, which is unlikely for 99% of us.
