I had a '98 MBZ ML320 with FSS and for the first few oil changes (averaged 10K miles) they used dino. At the third change the dealer told us MBUSA was now requiring full synthetic. We got rid of the '98 ML320 (no engine problems but major transmission problems) and it was replaced with an '01 ML320 (long story but it all worked out pretty well). Anyway this one came filled with synthetic and the FSS is averaging about 12K per oil change. Also note the crankcase takes over 6 quarts of oil... For what it's worth, this ML has been a dream (knocking on wood)...
Now, on another note, I've heard peanut oil is great for removing wax residue from black trim :-)
