If you go into the interior of Algonquin park, obviously you have to leave your car somewhere. There's parking lots at trail heads and canoe access points, but due to the remote nature of Algonquin, even these lots are quite secluded. To further complicate matters, due to the park permit system and for safety reasons (lost or injured campers) you get a permit you must place in your windshield which outlines where you intend to camp and on what night and when you're returning. Talk about confidence for the thieves- "hey check out this one, this guys a good 20km hike from here and he's not getting back for two more days!" Just this year they seem to have implemented a new program where they give you another card to put in your windshield in addition to the permit- "All valuables have been removed from this car" in bold red print. Seems to me it would be better to give these cards to the thieves so others won't waste their time breaking into a stripped vehicle!
On a positive note though, I've been there quite a few times over the years and not had one incident.
