Get this, my father always takes our old Nissan truck to the trainstation. This particular day my uncle borrowed the truck...so my dad took the Olds to the station instead that day. The one day its there, its stolen. The station is in a very bad neighborhood, one of the worst on Long Island....but its close to our home. Its weird how it goes from very nice and affluent, to very shitty, so quickly on Long Island.
Anyway, the door lock was busted up, and the steering column was torn up to get at the wires. Car had no alarm or anything, was pretty easy to steal I guess.
I'm definietly upping the security on our cars. My SAAB 9-3 and my folks' 9-5 have alarms, but I'm going to look into the brake pedal lock or something too, every anti-theft device you add buys you more time, and is more likely to make a thief skip your car. My bro's '90 SPG has no alarm or anything. The Olds was our retired family car, and sat around alot, but it was in amazing shape and we kept it even after getting the 9-5 for sentimental reasons, plus it was good to have a spare car around.
