to have it on the floor. We've had both 99s, C900s and now a 9000, and while I like the 9000 the best by far, I much prefer the ignition switch location on the others. It's much more natural for your right hand to be around the center console than up behind the steering wheel. Just like it's much nicer with the window switches on the center console than on the doors.
The reason why motor journalists complain about the center console placement, is because they're simply used to the steering wheel placement, and when they test a car, they only drive it for a day which is not enough time to get used to the new placement. If they'd driven it for a week or even better a month, they'd appreciate the center console placement.
