Pressure, volume, and temperature are considered together in describing the enthalpy of a gas. Because they are all intertwined mathematically by the perfect gas law, they are all considered together as "heat". Trust me, it's the flowing gas that turns the turbine, but in the process it relinquishes some of its energy and the enthalpy decreases. The exhaust will be cooler coming out of the turbine than going in, will also be lower pressure. The reverse happens to the gas coming through the turbine, hence the intercooler.
Writing down the equations and solving them is a b***h. Been there, done that, got the degrees...
