We bought our 01 9-3 new and when we first started negotiaing the sales guy was quoting us upwards of 40K, I quickly pointed out that it wasn't the convertable we were talking about and he said yeah I know...after me getting really pissed off and almost leaving I finally played the GM discount card and the manager came out and asked why I was even negotiating price. I explained that I was negotiating the price on my trade in which I kicked a$$ in ($6500 for a 96 900s with a boatload of miles on it). I guess the sales guy was thinking ok we will give him that and screw him on the price. Since I was quoted the 6500 the sales manager honored it and I walked out with a brand new 9-3 with leather/roof/cd etc... for the price of a base Honda Accord.
If you are not intinidated by sales guys there is no reason why you can't end up with a good deal.
