I have a Bosch Aquastar 125 with battery powered electronic ignition. We've had it 2 years.
Pros:
It's a lot cheaper to run that a tank. 50% less.
It's small and we were able to reclaim space in the basement.
It runs even when the power is out as it was this summer buring the mega-blackout.
Con:
Igniter failed and CEC sent a new one by Fed Ex. But I jury rigged the old one to work in the mean time. Took 2 days to get the new part.
One person can shower and the other can use the sink, but it's really a 1 person at a time system. We are only 2 in our family and it works fine. Get the Takagi if you need more water.
Jacuzzi tub takes a longer time to fill. But you never run out of hot water.
If you turn off the hot water and then turn it back on, you get a nasty surprise of cold water for about 5-10 s after a while. THis is because it takes time for the igniter and burners to come on and cold water runs through the heat exchanger in the mean time. I solved this by putting a 1 gal electrical water heater on the output of the Aquastar. It buffers this cold water. You can plug in the heater or not, just depends if you want hot water immediately or in the 30 s it takes to flush the tank.
All in all we are very happy. The dishwasher, the washer etc. all seem to get along with it.
