I can completely relate, as I definitely prefer to drive my car, rather than act as a passenger with a steering wheel in front of my face. I do believe your assupmtion is correct in that the 99 lacks the potential to ever become a true collector's car, although there are definitely a few of them in existence that prove contrary. I know you are weighing your options on straying from the Saab brand a bit, and that's completely understandable. For your needs and desires, there may no longer be a Saab that best-suits you. That's for you to decide. I've driven several vehicles that had the element of fun that the majority of cars today lack, even though power was not a forte in the least ('84 VW Rabbit GTI, '87 Saab 900S, etc.). In my opinion, the fun-factor does not revolve around power and pony ratings alone, as the handling, overall feel, and enjoyment from zipping around like you're the only one that has ever had this much fun in a car all play a major and key role in my contentment and satisfaction. I do urge you to try out a C900 (5-speed turbo, of course) and see what you think. My current 900 has the amenities that are necessary (A/C, power goodies, etc.) and the simplicity of yester-year (aka the ability to work on your car yourself). I have gotten so much enjoyment from my 900, and only find it necessary to perhaps encourage another to give it a shot. There are some very nice lower-mileage C900's still out there, as well as some others begging for a second chance at life. I have often considered purchasing a newer Saab, but like you, I can't seem to convince myself that there is another car with everything I have grown to love so much about my current Saab. I have no doubt a new Saab in the stable is inevitable sometime in the future for me, but there will definitely be a reminder of the more fun and simple things in life sitting right next to it. Regardless of your decision, good luck, and just always keep in mind the joy your 99 brought you. It's just hard to imagine that a car such as that could possibly set the standard so high...Saab - a beautiful wonder. Sorry again for presenting a little anal-ity in my previous posting. I wish you the absolute best of luck...let us all know what you decide. Drive safely, and KEEP ON SAABING!!!
