Automobile mag & the 9-3

.. I've been a critic of the new 9-3 since day one. I want SAAB to succeed and hope they take to heart the issues Automobile has wiht thier test car.
The latest issue brings up several issues I agree with, namely lack of power, interior components and the squashed roofline...
sigh.. although the Production editor complains of, "steering wheel tug at full throttle" which sounds very close to the torque steer complaint of yore..
Saab could have gotten it right with the 9-3 and the prepress I saw at the 2k2 SOC led me to believe they had a winner, however the number they quoted at the 2k2 SOC are way better than any reviewer has ever gotten with the car in terms of measurable accel and cornering. Automobile mag says it is in a debate, that nothign stands out on the car other than the exterior shape... it's as if they want to say something good about the car, but they can;t find anything... I think they hit the nail on the head in the mag when they talk about SAAB being a small prodcuer and it must stand out to get recognition.... of course standing out in the past has only gotten SAAB ridcule, so I think the press is a little flip floppy here..
Anywho.. the 9-3 should have been launched in AERO guise... period, and it shoul dhave been down so with more HP than the current AERO has, but somehow they manage to mess this up... similar to the 9-5 Aero launch.. when they had automatics to drive and seats that you slid around on like a playground slide... Seesm fairy obvious that with all the competition, always putting thier best foot (read hotest car) forward SAAB should be doing the same.
( yes the 9-3 has sold well, but are they selling more than the pontiac aztec? )
