not a promise. VVT was integral with the design of the Global 4 motor, to be applied as needed. It is needed with the Saab Combustion Control (SCC) engine to provide enough exhaust gas ingestion and fresh air "regurgitation" to control the power output (no throttle, remember). To quote Peter Augustsson, "it is something we are working on." THe purpose of SCC isn't more power, it's better fuel economy. More power comes as part of the package simply b/c of more efficient breathing. I suspect that the SCC 2.0L when it does enter production will have less than 250 hp. The power boost will come from the Global V6.
As for what will be in production with the 9-3X, forget the glass roof, forget the full length console, forget the 20" wheels and humongous brake rotors, forget the flush, frameless glass. Everything else you see is still on the table, although some details may change.
