I prefer the seasons in SE WI to the ones in MN... and I kinda miss lake michigan. I've been thinking about moving to Chicago once I'm done with school and stuff here in MN.
Racine is an odd place. Its got a pretty large population, but not a whole lot of culture. As Bob said a lot of the social life is in taverns. Thats not much else to do. There's still much tension between the races as well. There is also a strange dichotomy there. There is a disproportionately large 'ghetto' in Racine. Everything is really spread out and the Belle Urban System is quite lacking. In the last few years they have been trying to revialtize downtown by the lake.
Italians, Greeks and Armenians are fairly large ethnic groups, but despite this there are few really good restaruants in Racine. A few good pizza places, but you can only eat so much pizza.
Its *really* difficult to find a latte. Everytime we go to visit my parents for more than a weekend, I bring my espresso machine. ;)
The schools are pretty decent and if you have kids, there's not much for them to do. I found myself or my friends driving to Milwaukee or Chicago almost every weekend after I got my license.
If you want to know whats happening there I'd suggest checking out the link below.
