A computer "clone shop" geek told me the AMD Athlons have the "floating decimal point error" that Intel had with the PII. If I recall correctly, Intel's problem was the boost AMD needed to take off.
I'm looking at an ASUS A7N8X mb w/ an Athlon XP-2600+ CPU, 512 MB's of PC-2700 RAM, 40 gig 7200 rpm 8MB HD for less than $ 450.00 I use a CAD program called Softplan for design - build work so the floating point error thing is a modest concern. Any comments or thoughts? Right track/wrong track? No worries?
TIA
Allen in N.O.
