First impressions on Semperit Sport-Grips.....

I had my new Sport-Grips installed a week ago Friday (March 5th) but didn't think I would have anything to report about the tires until part way through next winter.
I was joking with a co-worker today regarding someone else parking in "her" spot, when she informed me that it was a rental car she was driving which was occupying the spot where she normally parks her new TrailBlazer. Seems last Monday (March 8th) she was driving to work and lost control on a patch of black ice, skidded into a brick wall, bounced back into the traffic lanes, spun a second time, and ended in the ditch. End of the story is $18,000 of damage to a nearly new TrailBlazer.
That same morning I commuted my usual 50 miles at 70mph and never noticed any slippery roads! Multiple freeways and major secondary roads in the Detroit area were closed that morning due to slippery road conditions and resulting accidents. Obviously the Sport-Grips do a great job on ice coated roadways, probably as good as my old Hakka Q's when they were new.
These tires are also quieter than the Q's (which weren't bad by the way), and feel much more controlled on grooved concrete freeways. Summer tires and wheels will be re-installed in another week or so, although the local weather report is predicting 1-3 inches of snow tonight.
At this point Semperit Sport-Grips appear to be a great winter tire at a very economical price. More to follow in November/December I am sure.
