Speaking of fine Sonoma wines, Trader Joe's has Charles Shaw Cabernet from Sonoma for $1.99. The Charles Shaw wines have become a phenomona known as "Two Buck Chuck" and are would be quite acceptable at many times the price.
Once upon a time Gallo Hearty Burgundy was the blind taste testing "ringer". That is if you included the inexpensive Hearty Burgundy in a blind taste test it usually finished about mid pack. Well Charles Shaw is even better and even Gallo Hearty Burgundy was never $2 a bottle!
Not all of the $1.99 Charles Shaw wines are from Sonoma, you have to read the label carefully. My favortie is the cabernet, which is from Sonoma, which is why it's so good.
A Sonoma wine snob.
