OT: Favorite red wines?

A good microbrew is all that will go with some foods (local is all I'll buy any more), but if the meal calls for wine, I prefer a glass of red. My tastes run towards the "thick & chewy," so my rack mainly has Cabernets, Zinfandels/Primitivos, & Barberas. But, it also has some Valpolicella & Sangiovese right now as well, & one perticular Pinot Noir (Sebastiani's "Tail Feathers") has been a long-time favorite of mine. Of course, my wallet dictates my purchases as much as my tastes, so $25/bottle is about my ceiling for "expensive" wines, & most of my purchases are priced between $5-$12/bottle.
Beaulieu Vinyard's "Rutherford" Cabernet has been one of my all-time favorites since I first experienced the earthy flavor over 20 yrs ago. It's almost like drinking a glass of wine right there, among the vines!
Last November I finally opened the last bottle of '78 Mondavi Cabernet I had. I hauled it out to California for my cousin's wedding, thinking, "It was so good when I bought it, it should be even better now!" Unfortunately, time, travel & poor storage had not been kind to this wine, & it was probably about 10 yrs past its prime. Oh well. I still have one bottle of '79, & I plan on opening that up before this summer.
Conversely, last April I finally opened the '71 Tommasi "Amarone" I'd bought 23 yrs ago. (Full title: "Amarone Recioto Della Valpolicella Classico") It's the only wine I've ever opened where the cork literally crumbled as it escaped the confines of the bottleneck. It was stored under the same questionable conditions as the Mondavi Cab, so I wasn't sure what to expect from this 32 yr old creation. It was absolutely astounding. Rich & smooth, with a deep raisin-y flavor & all the character that money can't buy. I'm sad I could only afford one $15 bottle at the time.
I do have a '95 & a '98 Amarone, so those should be drinkable in another 5 to 10 yrs. I'm also looking forward to trying (this year) the Coppola "Claret," Gaso "Valpolicella Classico" & Mother Zin "Primitivo" I have, along with one or two of the BV "Rutherford" Cabs. Unfortunately, nobody out here sells the Sebastiani "Tail Feathers."
So, what's your favorite?
