I own 1 C900T, 1 C900T convertible, 1 3dr Viggen, 1 2000 9-5. I have also driven quite a bit in a regular 9-3, and some in a NG900 and 9000cd and C900 non-turbo slushbox.
For cars to eat up the miles commuting, I'd order them with the 9-5 as tops, then the viggen, 9-3, cv 900T, 900T. If you drive in snow, lower the order of the viggen and raise the order of the 900T.
Seat comfort order: Viggen, 9-5, 9-3, cv900T, c900T.
The 9-3 is a major improvement over the NG900. It's reliable, fast, comfortable, and has good styling. The 9-5 has more sophistaicated handling (grace) than the 9-3 and is of course roomier and more luxurious, but that's not something everyone is looking for. The 9-5 will be less expensive to maintain than a 9000. 9-3s are getting cheap to buy and tend to be pretty reliable too.
My wife likes the 9-5 the most. I like my 88 900T because of what it does for me all winter. In the summer, I prefer the convertible. If I were in an urban area, I might not like the inherant reduced security that older softtop cars have. It's not an issue here.
Eventually my 88 900T will be worn out and I might just get a newer classic 900T to replace it, but it's too early to worry about that.
