Do some searching on how to handle it. It will be in your greatest interests to find some higher asking prices for similar cars and argue that they are the closest to yours. Even if they are newer.

My honey's (we just got engaged, too: congrats to you) car got hit last year. We had just been looking into selling her car and were guessing it would be ~$2000 - 2500 due to cosmetics and 145k miles. Car was v.good mechanically, but was too small for me and had the famous fading blue Honda paint circa 1992.

Insurance started with $2200 "offer" and we ended up with about $2900 and got to keep the car at it's $500 "salvage" value, to boot. Net claim $3400. We had excellent repair records. Because we went thru the other insurance company, no salvage title. The minor dent down the side did catch the whole side, which is big $$ at a shop, but did not affect driveability, etc.

Her brother is really happy with the well maintained, very cheap to run set of wheels with the dent in the side, and I'm happier with the larger hand me down we got from her parents (even if its a v*vlo!)

You can take some satisfaction that depending on the insurance payout, their rates will be a reminder for some years to come. Insurance is a racket, and you might as well play the game. I'm not suggesting fraud or anything of the sort, but at this point, you need to get what reinbursement you can get.
