you are the one who is playing both sides of the fence. I have been in similair circumstances, and the decision to allow this to be handled with out 'authorities' is usaully done as a courtesy to the parents of the child involved. We all know how high insurance rates can be for younger drivers and an accident like that will not only increase your son's rate, but often the rates for the whole family, if it is a shared policy. In that situation I would only agree to not get insurance involved as a favor to the person who hit me, as I would be exposed to the potential of receiving zero compensation. It seems as though Mr. McNeely was uncomfortable with the time frame of your responses, and upset that he never received monies which you claimed you sent.

You have not taken into the account the percarious position that Mr McNeely put himself in by agreeing to deal with this personally. Nor do you seen to have any appreciation for the effect of that claiming 'the check's in the mail" when it never was. Throwing out the word 'harassment' to make yourself look like a victim doesn't change the basic facts of the situation.

Mr. McNeely's car was struck by your son's vehicle.

You made a deal to take care of the damage.

You renegged on the deal, after making false claims of payment.

I understand that we all get caught up in arguments and will go to great lengths to defend our own side (it is OURS after all). I will not ask you to change your opinion of the matter in any public forum, rather to examine the events privately and ask yourself if you feel that you acted in an honorable manner that you are proud of.

Best Regards,

Chad
