if not synthetic, a dual diesel/gas spec mineral oil

In hot climates with a turbo engine, it's not a bad idea to use something a little thicker.
At the top of my list would be Delvac 1, also known as Mobil 1 5W-40 "Truck & SUV Formula", $4.77/quart at Walmart. This is a severe service, dual diesel/gas rated (CI-4, API SL) synthetic, said to contain the very best basestocks made by Mobil.
The dual diesel/gas spec oils have increased detergency over gasoline-only oils. SAAB's own oils (factory fill and SAAB-branded) have a diesel-spec level of additives.
Not sure what you want to spend on oil though--if you're looking to spend a little less, Shell Rotella T Synthetic (5W-40) is just $12.88 for a one gallon jug. Also dual diesel/gas rated.
Next best bet for you would be something like a diesel/gas dino (mineral) oil like Chevron Delo 15W-40 or Rotella 15W-40, about $8 for a one gallon jug.
Your money will be better spent paying for premium oil rather than premium filters. Basically, with oil filters, as long as you stay away from FRAM (the orange wall of doom!!!) you're doing well.
Regular ACDelco PF53 filters, or the oversized Motorcraft FL-400S (a Pure One filter with a Motorcraft label), offer the best bang-for-the-buck for about $3.
If you can get a Pure One for $5 then that's fine, but don't waste $10 on an oil filter--the $3 filters I mentioned above will do just as well.
