Bought an Asko washer and dryer 3 years ago... the washer is excellent (uses 4 gallons of water to do a load of laundry!), but the dryer was another story. As with your Maytag, the printed circuit board went bad, and the cost to replace was $400! That's just amazing.
The repairman said "cut your losses... go to Sears and find a dryer with *rotary* dials, no electronic keypad controls... they last forever". My wife went to the store, bought a new rotary dial/dryness sensor dryer for $375, including free delivery and 0% financing, and that Kenmore works better than the Asko ever did. And it is huge.
Moral of the story... keep things simple ;-)
