Pulling my engine - 2 questions

I'm pulling the engine on my 1985 Saab 900 SPG to rebuild/replace the manual transmission. I've never done it before (to any car). The Bentley manual says to install a Saab special tool between the control arm and the lower ball joint (I think - I don't have the manual with me). I'm sure that lots of you know how important this is, or if there's another way to do it. Also, to bleed the clutch they suggest using a coolant pressure tester. Is this the way most of you guys do this?
Thanks in advance.
Mike
