My last oil drain interval was 7.5k miles, using M1 15W-50. I've always drained it my self because 1.) it's easy on a 9k, and 2.) I usually send it out for analysis at Blackstone (I want to make sure it's the first part of the drain that's consistently sampled). I'm hooked on 15W-50, especially w/B234R engines. These engines are tough on oil: the viscosity went from 50 to 40 in 7.5k miles. And besides, with an engine that develops humungous torque at low rpm's, it's essential to have an oil that has enough viscosity to supply oil pressure to feed the oil sprayers on the undersides of the pistons. That being said, the analysis has shown that the M1 is more than sufficient, w/my wear numbers, for another 2.5k miles, so I'll start doing 10k drain intervals. I've since switched from Pure1 filters to NAPA gold. I've also got a 'new' B234R, so it'll be a new baseline for analysis - I'm not sure what the previous owner used for oil. I'm sure it'll skew the next analysis.
