I understand the dilemma the dealer finds itself in. There has to be some profit, and both GM and dealer win if the end of year stock can be moved. Same for that dry period around February when sales around my area of the Northeast seem to slump. That said, for the high roller customer, there is lots of monetary room to bargain in, and that well heeled customer is likely to be in the door looking at the cars despite a relatively high sticker and having no knowledge of what might be possible. For those of us who love the car, but who will not be able to afford a purchase at all except when incentives of this magnitude might possibly be passed on, we will not even be in the door at all unless the incentive is publicized. This is not a function of sexy advertising or a test drive or the sensible salesmanship I see Mike and Mark demonstrate on this list. It is pure economics. My own purchase occurred in that fashion, and only now am I tempted back. Three years ago, Edmunds had the information, and I switched from looking at three other makes to the Saab I otherwise preferred. Lately, my not being able to independently confirm the rumors seen on this site was a stopper. Just my two cents from this corner.
