Chevron, Texaco, Shell or what??? Posted by ChuckD [Email] (#2127) [Profile/Gallery] (more from ChuckD) on Thu, 26 Aug 2004 11:21:54 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
(OK, I see there's now another Chuck on this list so I, the original, am now ChuckD)
So I'm reading glowing remarks on Chevron gas, and suffering thru a tankful of ethanol-addled AMOCO (with it's predicted symptoms of reduced milage and power, and rough starting), and I decide to look at the Chevron website to find the nearest Chevron station to me.
It's 190.1 miles away in Maryland. No gas is that good for me to consider that side trip.
Reading on, I see Chevron merged with Texaco so I wonder if the two formulations are similar/alike. Can't tell. But a link within the Texaco website (what we won't do for good gas!) takes me to a Chev/Tex press release of 07/01/04 titled: "ChevronTexaco Welcomes Back the Texaco Retail Brand in the U.S."
and it goes alot like this:
********************
Company begins marketing gasoline under the Texaco retail brand again
SAN RAMON, Calif., Jul. 1, 2004 -- ChevronTexaco Products Company will today begin marketing gasoline under the Texaco retail brand and expects to be supplying more than 1000 locations in Southern and Eastern states of the United States by the end of the year.
As part of its 2001 merger agreement, ChevronTexaco agreed to license the Texaco retail brand to Shell in the United States for the marketing and sale of gasoline on an exclusive basis until July 1, 2004. The companies will now share the brand rights for a two-year transition period until ChevronTexaco regains exclusive rights to the Texaco brand in the United States on July 1, 2006.

...and so on. So my question is: does this make Shell gas alot like Chevron? And since there are apparently no Chev/Tex stations within 100 miles of me (Long Island), is Shell a worthy substitute?
