The engine and trans must have been rebuilt a couple of times. The car is almost 40 years old, so just about everything except the body must have been replaced or restored at least once. I wonder what his overall costs were over the 38 years.
One thing that helps is that the mid-'60s Volvos were not very sophisticated technically, so there was a whole lot less to go wrong than on a modern car. But that kind of longevity is awesome!
The old Volvo motors were great. Slow, but over built and under stressed--basically tractor motors. Easy to work on, too. And they had the SU or Stromberg carbs you could rebuild on your kitchen table in an hour or so. (guess how I know!)
Always liked the P1800. Nice to see one do so well.
