Well, they did it to me again. After hopelessly cracking the oil pan on my 99 9-3 last year Valvoline instant oil change bought me a new pan and replaced it free of charge after about 6 months of trying to do band-aid fixes. As a goodwill gesture and attempting to keep me as a customer, they gave me certificates for a couple of free oil changes. (Synthetic of course) I had one done during the summer, no problems. I had another done by them about 3 weeks ago, with the assurance of the store manager that they knew how to take care of my car. I noticed there was a leak on my garage floor about two weeks ago. I took my car into a dealer for transmission service yesterday and asked them to check out the leak. They told me that the existing drain plug was an aftermarket plug that was not Saab OEM. This makes me more than a little upset. No mention was made at the time I left Valvoline as to the fact that they replaced the Saab OEM plug with an aftermarket piece of junk. The questions in my mind at this point are what happened to the original plug, and why was I not informed that an aftermarket plug was installed that would probably leak? I requested the dealer change the plug and oil and give me the aftermarket plug for proof. Which they gladly obliged for about 60.00 more than my original bill would have been. Obviously, I will not be taking my car back to VIOC anymore, but what is my next course of action? I still have the district manager’s name and office address from last year’s debacle. Its not so much the money for the fix that I am concerned about, but rather the dishonesty at work here after having so many bad experiences with them. I realize going back probably wasn’t my smartest move, but they say on all their invoices they guarantee 100% satisfaction.
Opinions??
