Sure those brands that you mentioned are supposedly the best of the best. How much better are they really ? How much traction do you need? how much more grip can you measure, too many factors affect the real world in which you drive to be concerned with splitting hairs over the "best of the best" IMO. The same holds true for the best dry performance tire, are you really going to push your car to the limits in the real world? Are you going to enter that freeway ramp at such a speed to overcook the turn to test your tires maximum grip, and then HOPE your skilled enough to save your butt and the car from disaster? NO. Therefore, Hankook 195/60-15 winter w404s will run you about 52.00 each from one of the tire discounters, Dunlops are a little more but still almost half the price of the big names. They may wear faster,may be slightly noiser,may be slightly less sticky or effective,etc etc ...do you really care ? Half the price of the others. If money is not an issue then go for the highest priced - your guaranteed the best ! maybe.
