Rather than the lawyer thing, I'd get informed and look it up yourself. Sounds like you were w/i the intent of the "reckless driving", but that you got taken by the system, and it could have had a better outcome. Wonder how the rest of your record is...
National Motorists Association is probably worth the membership. You should at least go to the site. When I was in my very early 20's, I got tagged hard once with a completely trumped up charge. Went to court 3 times, got a lawyer, and paid "court costs" equal to the fine.
Now I know where the system "erred", and how I might have gotten off had I known the rules. Of course, when you have several officer's completely perjuring themselves, it's frustrating. It's pretty hard to beat experienced liars who have the court in their pocket.
On the other hand, I've not been tagged for other stuff... like practicing in parking lot's when it snows. 'course, I'm not doing doughnuts... ;-)
