9-3 Rims Stuck to hubs FYI

We were walking On Hanover In the North End of Boston and came upon a 2000ish 9-3 owner with his Saab up on it's jack trying to change a flat rear tire. The rim had bonded with the hub so well that all the kicks we could muster would not break it free. No other tools were available and as left he was still banging away with his totallly ineffective lug wrench.
(My rim's were tuff to break loose when I changed to snows last week and they were changed last year.I did wire brush and w-d 40 the hubs before remounting.I guess anti-seize might be more appropriate next time.)
For people who haven't changed or removed tires for a long time I'd recommend carrying a 3 foot piece of 2x4 and a 10 pound hammer so you don't get stuck with stuck/bonded rims.
One of those things that isn't a problem untils there's a problem.
