IMHO - kids can not care - parents should be outraged

I agree 100% with Finch. Though that seems unpopular. I guess I don't understand some opinions but thoroughly respect them anyway. Hopefully others that disagree will at least respect me for mine.
So he might not have been going 205. Would everyone agree he was going 140? The officer's measurement stunk. The road was supposedly quiet. Who cares? A standard position for a wreckless driver can be - ..."you don't know for sure how fast I was going or how wreckless I was being...therefore I was not speeding and not wreckless..."
That works in court. It doesn't work toward my opinion of the 20yo kid.
If this would have been my son, I would have hugged him like there's no tomorrow thanking God endlessly that he survived being that super-ultimately-incredibly-wildly-unexplainably stupid. For all speed demons - same blessings go out to you. After hugging him so tight, he'd learn again that even at 20, he still has a father, and a mother and a brother and a sister whose lives would be ruined if he never came home after being that stupid.
He would have faced every penalty like a man. He would have been honest and contrite. He would have taken responsibility for his actions in the face of public outcry and then he would have apologized. That's what ultimately makes an honorable man.
And the Sheriff, if he is an honorable man and loving father will put a bow on his son's head this Christmas and view every breath that kid still breathes as the greatest gift he could ever receive.
The son is still a part of the family, not a memory. That's what matters. Merry Christmas to all.
