Class action suits are not just about making money for the plaintiffs (or the lawyers). They are largely about getting companies to change unfair or deceptive practices and preventing the companies for profiting from these practices. Remember that many of these practices only cost the individual a couple of dollars, but it amounts to significant income for the company. Believe it or not, there is a principle involved. When lawyers make money on cases like this, they also usually bring about a change that benefits all consumers.

Why is it that everyone is entitled to make money, except lawyers?
