I saw similar notice on GM's Internal News Wire... Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Tue, 1 Mar 2005 04:36:15 In Reply to: Another Saab/GM/Opel story in the newspaper today, SWEDECAR [Profile/Gallery] , Mon, 28 Feb 2005 21:47:50 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The new Cadillac BLS will be built in Sweden.
The next generation Vectra and 9-3 (sharing the same platform) will be built in Germany.
The Trollhattan plant will be the assembly site of the next new Saab, (not specified but maybe the new 9-5?).
Although I am sure many will be upset that yet another Saab is being built outside of Sweden, this news contains a silver lining.
1) Trollhattan is a competitive assembly/manufacturing site and will remain active.
2) Consolidation of assembly operations of very similar vehicles will decrease manufacturing costs and should help Saab achieve additional profits and remain a viable brand into the future.
3) Trollhattan will continue to build Saabs, as well as other marques.
