electric company cuts a check Posted by Adam [Email] (#344) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Adam) on Mon, 14 Mar 2005 11:29:37 In Reply to: so how does it work?, GM, Mon, 14 Mar 2005 11:20:28 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The power goes right back into the system, where there's a good chance your neighbors could be using it.
The electric companies are happy to pay, and give good incentives to go green (or solar). Since they have to follow what the goverment tells them, the electric company will go through great lengths to avoid having to upgrade their electric production, as it will cost them a bundle. As they are making a bundle now, and they can be sure that they won't need to upgrade, they are happy to pay out.
Kind of a funny business, as one might think the electric company would be mad that they aren't getting your money.
More incentives if you use Energy Star rated appliances as well.
We've been discussing green Architecture a lot in my case studies class.
Now if you really want to save some cash, look into a GeoThermal Well system. No credit from the electric company, but the payoff rate is really fast, as the system isn't all that expensive compared to the Photovoltaic cells (solar panels).
