If installation is included, so is the 2nd line Posted by IrieTom [Email] (#1032) [Profile/Gallery] (more from IrieTom) on Tue, 15 Mar 2005 18:48:34 In Reply to: OT: DirecTV w/TiVo, jeff, Tue, 15 Mar 2005 05:58:08 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The digital satellite signal is not compatible with splitters of any kind. Too bad, because my job would be much easier if they did work. I've been installing DirecTV systems professionally for about 3 months now. It sounds to me as though your house was wired for cable tv when it was built, and the original installer used the existing wiring. That's the way it should be.
If you have an appointment for a DVR upgrade (replace your existing satellite receiver with a Tivo), the installer will run another line to your TV for free. The only catch is that the line will be run around the exterior of your house and into the room with the TV via a hole drilled through the wall. If you want to have the cable snaked down into the wall cavity from the attic space to avoid seeing cable lines running around, there will be additional charges which you will have to pay at the time of the installation. I think my company charges $60.00 per wall.
