Todd,
The value of property in the lower Fairfield Country area has been skyrocketing. Condo prices have continuously gone up 30% the past two years. The area tends to go up in price faster than the rest of the country and the market is not effected by recessions. If you plan on buying a condo you can look in Greenwich($) or Stamford (less $) more of a city, or Norwalk is a mix of City and Country setting and is a little less expensive than stamford. In all of the towns you can expect to receive multiple offers on any property. Just be ready when you find a property your interested in to bid quickly. Make sure you have a realtor with tons of experience this should make things go smoother. A plus is a garage, you can find many units with garages. Norwalk is a little further to New York but, Norwalk has many townhouse within walking distance to the train. Townhouses in the area range from 300k to over 1.5 mil.
Good luck,
Rich
