There is 15 cents worth of ink, a dime of plastic and circuitry, a nickle for packaging and another nickle for distribution. We pay $30 or so. Nice margins, even with the retailer in the middle. (Of course they do a little R&D to make it all work.)
I just don't know how these high-powered execs manage to survive on such paltry salaries. It's gotta be terribly hard to keep a couple of S-Class Mercedes running right, pay for all the upkeep on the 15,000 square foot house, plus the ski house at Aspen and the little 6,000 sq. ft cottage in Maui, and then still send the kids to private colleges with their own X5 BMW. I just don't know how they can do it.
...and still run a Fortune 100 company like a lemonade stand.
