ringing in the ear can be caused by countless things, but bell' palsy would be an unusual cause
If you are young and healthy, the most common cause would be congestion (there's not much room there for the nerve when it gets swollen). there are a zillion others.
medications are a common cause; aspirin and other anti-inflammatory drugs are the usual culprit. I don't know about keflex--many of the new antibiotics in that category can cause ringing in the ear.
the most important things to examine are whether you have any hearing loss with the ringing or if there are signs of any other neurological problem; hopefully his examination looked at those. If not, the ear specialist is a good idea.
i've never heard of treating bell's palsy prophylactically and don't know if it would help prevent or speed up recovery.
if you are really worried, don't hesitate to go somewhere to be seen sooner than monday, especially if you don't think you got a thorough looking over, but the fact that you had lots of wax and he gave you flonase, sounds like he thought it was a local problem in the ear canal. let's hope so.
