My mother had a Honda Accord EX with all of the bells and whistles. When she passed away, I finally drove the thing and couldn't believe it.
It is all hype. The car drives like a box on wheels. The a/c switch broke off when I tried to change the setting, and the car would not start after a few weeks sitting idle. Sold it back to the dealer a few weeks later. Couldn't stand the thing.
There was no comparison to the Saabs I own - either in build quality, performance and handling.
Quite honestly, I was shocked with how cheezy the car was. But perception being what it is, people will line up for an Accord b/c that is the conventional wisdom.
Saab's test drive advertising is spot-on. If a prospective Accord purchaser actually took the time to test drive a 9-3, Saab sales would skyrocket. Sure a Saab is a few thousand more, but it is a far superior product. Unfortunately, Saab is like a well-kept secret, which is a real shame.
