As a sales/marketing guy (not in the auto biz), I've always thought that Excitement and Newness sells products.
In todays WSJ there is an article on the state of business for automotive manufacturers.
Most of these manufactures have failed to provide the consumer the products that they want and continue to loose market share, do to this.
The mfrgs that are providing this newness, excitement and continuing reliability are the ones that are doing well and all without the some of the huge rebates/allowances etc.
Someone has got to bang heads at GM and Ford - so they will see the light and bring exciting products to the market.
Ford 500 - no excitment, Chrysler 300 = excitment ~ Chrysler sales up, Ford down.
Big rebates = lower resale value.
Start delivering exciting products and you'll be rewarded in better sales -same old theme that actually works. Sorry for the rambling, but these guys need a large kick in the pants!
