As you said, you like the Canon better. You're going to be using this camera - buy what you feel comfortable with. As to being discontinued or not, so what? Just because they aren't selling it any more, your camera won't stop working.
And as the others have said, MP doesn't really matter. Yes, if you intend on regularly doing some major blowup prints. In my opinion, once you've hit 3MP, you're doing pretty good for most reasonable-sized prints.
Yes, you can blow up a 5MP bigger than a 4MP before you see digital artifacts. But there is something more important. In order to blow up a picture that much, it had better be damn near perfect - even exposure, good focus. All imperfections blow up, too. You're more likely to get a better picture with the camera you like.
I've got the Kodak 6490, which is 4MP. I've been doing photography for decades, and I'm constantly surprised at how good pictures come out. The downsides of the Kodaks are two - one, the size is big, which makes it harder to have on hand - bringing it along requires planning, versus a camera that will fit in the pocket. The second is that the Easy-Share line is pitched at the less-experienced consumer. They lack some of the advanced features other cameras have, such as manual focus, and more control over white balance, compression, etc. Frankly, for most photography, the Easy Share is fine. But right now, I'd like to have a small Canon to just drop into my pocket for those quick shots.
The internal storage of the Kodak is nice, but so what. 32 Meg is only a few pictures. A 128M card is nice, but you can buy those on sale at Staples or Circuit City for $15. You're going to want to buy an extra card or two in the future, anyway.
Don't fall for megapixel envy. Get the camera you're comfortable with. Both cameras are good, and will do just fine. So buy the one you like.
