DVDs or CDs ?
If so, just recover the OS and other applications that came with the computer from the CD/DVD to the blank drive they sent.
If your computer came with the recovery sectors built into the hard disk, then they should either send you a full set of recovery CDs/DVDs (with the OS (XP??) licence key) together with a blank hard disk or should have sent you a hard disk with the original OS and default applications loaded with the recovery info.
You need to make it clear to them what you need.
Also, if they are sending you a preloaded hard disk, you need to get the Windows XP (if you requested a Windows OS) licence key that correspond to the preloaded Windows OS.
Make sure you burn a set of recovery CDs/DVDs once you get a new drive up and running. I don't know how many PC sellers have resorted to putting the recovery data on the hard drive and not giving you the CD/DVDs. At least the subsidiary of Gateway, aka eMachines don't. I have three relatively new eMachines. Two of them came with recovery CDs the last one I got (after eMachines bought up by Gateway) did not come with recovery CDs. I had to burn my own recovery CDs from the hard disk (blank CDs provided in the box however).
